Well I hope you get this message... I have
tried several times to send you an update, and every single
time, something went wrong and the message wouldn't go through.
Anyways, I just wanted to let you guys know how Maddox is
doing. He has become the center of our family, I can hardly
remember what it was like around here before he came. He
has been a huge hit with my mom and dad. Mom is here with
him every day (when I have school etc.) and they have become
best buddies - she spoils him like you wouldn't believe,
and he is my dad's "side kick", and of course
he is everything to me!! . Dr. Link has been very impressed
with him. I weighed him just the other day and he is up
to 63LBS. He is very healthy - taking his worm pill each
month along with his flea/tick med. He is soooo very smart,
he has learned... "sit", "stay", "outside",
"go to your bed", "let's go to bed/time for
bed", "no", "kisses", "shake",
and "go get pa/go to the shop", "lets take
a bath" (which is one of his most favorite things to
do) just to name a few. He is very smart and learns pretty
quickly. House training wasn't quite as hard as I thought
it would be, now he goes to the door and sits and waits
for you to take him out. He is now able to just sleep around
the house without being kept in one room all night... he
use to have to be in my room with the door shut, but now
I leave it open and he either sleeps on the couch, in HIS
chair or he will come get in the bed with me. One Sunday
a month, we go to Rock Creek park and meet a friend of mine,
he has a 4 year old male and a 6 month old female, (both
boxers) we let them run and play in the fenced in field.
I use take him with me almost every morning when I would
go to bojangles (the drive-thru people love him) and also
to SONIC. Everywhere we go, I get flooded with complements.
He is a wonderful part of this family, we have a routine
that we usually go through every day, it begins when my
alarm goes off at 6am... If I don't get up when the alarm
goes off he will wake me up. I haven't been late for school
yet!! He loves to sleep under the covers and usually he
will poke his head out like a real person. I take him out
for his morning business and then he will get back in the
bed while I get ready. I usually take him out again before
I leave and then he is here throughout the day with my mom
(and dad periodically) and when it's time for me to come
home, he will get in his chair and look out the door and
wait for me to pull in the drive way. On average, we will
go out at least twice to run and play every day, I throw
the tennis ball and he runs after it, he has learned to
bring it back and give it to me but he loves to play keep
away from me!! When the sun starts to go down, we head inside
and get ready for supper - **and he still hasn't quite learned
to leave us alone while we eat - he is so spoiled that he
thinks he should have his own plate. We don't give him much
people food - but he has managed to get his paws on a piece
of chicken or steak here and there. On Sundays he usually
gets gravy poured over his food and that is his Sunday diner**-
We usually end our day with a lil TV and then we hit the
bed around 9pm - 10pm. He has slept with me in my bed EVERY
SINGLE NIGHT since the first night he came home!! I finally
got his AKC papers back in the mail, his full name is: General
Patton Maddox Palmer. I guess this is about all for now
- I'm sorry that it has taken me a year to actually get
this to you!! I have attached some pictures... hope you
enjoy them. I will continue to keep you posted as he grows.
I want you to know that he is a very happy puppy and is
in a loving home where he is taken very good care of. Thank
you so much for everything!!
I know it's been a while... But I wanted to email you
guys and let you know how things are in the world of
Maddox!! haha
He is STILL the center of attention... he is soooo
amazing! I swear, I don't know what we ever did without
him! He is no longer just MY dog, he is the FAMILY
dog... and he has become very particular about the roles
of his family members. There are certain things that he
only wants certain people to do... My mom is the only
one who can fix his dinner every night (if me or dad
does it, he WILL NOT eat it), if it's dark outside and
he needs to go out, he only wants my dad to take him...
I'm good for pretty much everything else!! His
personality has EXCEEDED our expectations tremendously!!
He has developed this "method of speaking" that is
somewhat like a long controlled howl followed by a
muffled bark. It's quite entertaining to say the least!
And he DOES get his point across.
He still has his normal routine... and he's not so happy
when something is "out of routine".
He is SO smart, that we now have to spell words so that
he doesn't understand what we are saying. He is
phenomenal... more than I ever thought could be!!!
Recently we have had TWO different people call (both are
folks we know) wanting to use him to breed. I told the
first guy NO because he didn't want to register the
puppies and his female wasn't registered. Call me
stingy, but I'm just not hip to the idea of "giving"
part of him away in the first place, much less to
someone who isn't going to make "good use" of the
opportunity. The second call came last night, from a
friend of mine who has a female who is somewhere around
Maddox's age. She IS registered, and I know that she is
very well taken care of.... but again, I just don't know
that I want to offer him up to just anyone. My dad is
VERY skeptical of EVERYONE... haha - Neither one of us
know much of anything about it. I would like to Breed
him, I just think that it would be awful to not do such
a thing with such a wonderful dog... EVERYONE should
have the chance to experience what we have! However... I
want to make sure we make the best decision. If you have
any advice to offer, I would greatly appreciate it!!
I have attached a few pictures for you to enjoy!
They are the newest ones we have... all from 2008... you
will see how he "chases" his food bowl around, and how
inquisitive he is with the drain pipes outside. He loves
to look out the front door... he makes sure that he is
laying in the chair that he can see out the front door
in. There are a few other random pictures... just Maddox
being Maddox!!
We hope you guys are doing great!! And congratulations
on the "new" addition, BB.
Thanks again... and we hope to hear from you soon!!!
